Our
Mission:
Des Moines Co-ed Volleyball Club (DMCVC)
is a not-for-profit organization with the mission
of promoting adult co-ed volleyball in the Des
Moines area. We do this by teaching volleyball
skills, encouraging members to play in volleyball
leagues and tournaments, and organizing volleyball
tournaments.
Membership:
DMCVC falls under the guidelines established
by the Des Moines Public Schools Adult Education
Program. Membership is open to any adult 18 years
of age or older and that is personally dedicated
to learning and improving their volleyball skills.
We welcome volleyball players of ALL skills levels
and experience, from people who have never played
before to "AA" players.
When We Meet:
Club meets on Monday nights from October
through April for approximately 27 weeks. Members are divided
up by skill level and teaching is conducted by
the club's board members and long time volleyball
players from the community. Gym time is dedicated
to drills, skills teaching, and some structured
"free-play". People get some good exercise during
the evening but we don't make anyone run laps
around the gym!
Monday nights are friendly and social,
not coaches yelling at everyone. Its main focus
is teaching. Drills are progressive so missing
a week can not only set the individual back but
slows down the advancement of the other people
in each skill-group. If you're looking more to
get to know a bunch of volleyball enthusiasts
but can't commit to Monday night's, DMCVC offers social memberships, monthly social outings, and
several events during the summer. |
